Brown Sugar is a sucrose sugar product with a distinctive brown clolor due to the presence of molasses. While some say that brown sugar is healthier than normal white sugar, the nutritional difference between the two are insignificant. Meaning, there is no real health benefit in using both types of sugar as their difference isn’t very far. Brown sugar just so happen to contain slightly more minerals and marginally fewer calories than the normal white sugar. On another note, dark brown sugar contains more molasses and has a stronger flavor than light brown sugar. Nevertheless, they’re all essential to baking.
