What is your favorite Mochi flavor?

Ingredients : for 3 mochis

  • 50 g glutinous rice flour
  • 25 g sugar 
  • 90 ml water 
  • Corn or Potato Starch
  • Optional : Food coloring

Filling ideas :

  • Red bean paste
  • Chocolate covered strawberry
  • Sesame and honey paste

Recipe :

1 – In a bowl mix the glutinous rice flour and the sugar.

2 – Add water (and food coloring), and whisk well until no more lumps

3 – Cover with a paper towel and put in the microwave for 1 min at 1200W

4 – With a wet plastic spatula mix the mochi dough. Cover with a paper towel and put back in the microwave for 1 more minute.

5 – Spread starch on a baking sheet and add your mochi dough. Sprinkle some more starch on the dough and divide into 3 pieces.

6 – Flatten each piece into a circle. Add your filling in the center and pinch the seam lines together. Reshape your mochi if needed and enjoy.
