Gochujang, or Korean Red Chili Paste, is a savory, sweet, and spicy fermented condiment that is used in many Korean homes. It is made from gochugaru (Korean Chili Powder), glutinous rice, fermented soybean powder, barley malt powder, and salt. Traditionally, it is fermented over years in an earthenware pots kept outdoors.
Gochujang is used in many Korean dishes like Tteokbokki, Kimchi Jiggae, or Kimchi Fried Rice.
The longer the product is being stored, the darker it will get. It is caused by the aging process and is totally safe for consumption.
